Crossfire Series By Sylvia Day

Like I have said in past posts I am a member of multiple book lover blogs and sites!  They help me find tons of books I would not have found just fishing around Goodreads or the library.  One of such book series is Sylvia Day's Crossfire Series.  I was intrigued since I had read a review that said it was in the same league with 50 Shades Of Grey, so I gave it a try!

There are going to be 5 books total with the first 3 out in publication now -- Bared to You, Reflecting In You, Entwined with You.

I obviously knew going in it was going to be steamy, but was pleasantly surprised that I loved the characters.  They are so easy to like and cheer for!  The main characters and Eva Tremell and Gideon Cross.  Eva just moved to New York from California with her best friend and roommate Cary Taylor to start a new life after college.

Eva has come to work her way up from the bottom at an advertising company that just happens to be in the Crossfire Building.  She bumps into Gideon Cross (who just happens to own the Crossfire Building and most of NY) the first time checking out her new job in an advertising company, and it heats up from there!  They are all products of some sort of childhood abuse and is a main concern to their relationship from the beginning, and once you glimpse the torment they both go through due to this you are left totally cheering them on.  Another cool aspect of this story is Eva's bond with Cary.  They met when they were in group counseling in California when she moved in with her father in High School.  Cary is a male model and has his own dysfunction to work though but he and Eva are in it for thick and thin!  He helps ground Eva when things start getting really serious and crazy with Cross.

I love how the author keeps you wanting them to make it and even at the end of each book you are not really left with a huge cliffhanger to wonder about, but just wondering how they are going to pull out of the next crisis pushed upon them.  To tell you the truth I totally loved these characters WAY WAY more then 50 Shades, Christian Grey and Ana.  Sylvia Day is a wonderful writer and makes there story just jump from the page!  I love a book that can be both serious and funny at the same time, and truthfully I probably was smiling and chuckling just as much as I was fanning the heat in these 3 books.

I will warn you though that even with the awesome story line if you are NOT into lots of hot and steamy sex scenes (nothing like 50 Shades sex) then this is probably not the book for you!  They also go into some detail about the abuse they both had to deal with in their pasts(both from either family or drs to them as children).  I felt she wrote about this with the sensitivity it deserved while showing us that the characters are shaped by what happened to them as children and sadly still having to deal with the repercussions as adults.

Overall I can say without reservation I will be anxiously awaiting the next book which release date is still awaiting a publication date!

Here are some snippets/quotes that I liked from the books!

My Classic Choice for Summer

I have charged myself with reading one if the longest classic books of my life today!  I want to complete Les Miserables by Victor Hugo by the end of the summer.  I know it's a huge book but am hoping that it will not be a hard read like some other classics can be.  This will be one of the first classics I have picked up in over a year, and I'm really hoping to enjoy it throughout the summer.

And then of course I will be watching the movie!  I have actually seen this performed on Broadway while in High school in NY, and am intrigued to see how the film turned out.

My 2013 Reading Goal

This year I decided to take a reading challenge!

I originally set my goal at 75 books for the year, but then had to bump it up to 100 books.  Since I read tons of series authors that have atleast 10-15 books in them my numbers tend to creep up quickly!

Thanks to some new Facebook groups dedicated to the awesomeness that is Paranormal Fiction.  Through all the other fans I have found tons of awesome new books and series to try out!

Im thinking if i stay on pace I may have to bump the goal again!  I have a slight problem!  So stay tuned for some of my favorites as I review them!

Welcome

Welcome!

I love reading anything I can get my hands on but mostly paranormal romance and historical fiction.  I have been doing a personal book reading challenge this year and thought that I would also try my hand at a book reading/reviewing/obsession type blog!

So a little info about myself!  My name is Anya and I'm 31 years old and have 2 wonderful children
( Liam 6 and Maggie 3) and a houseful of crazy furry babies too (Sunny, golden retriever and 4 cats).  I don't have tons of free time but you probably guess how I prefer to spend it!

Like previously said I do prefer to read paranormal romance, but for me to really enjoy them it has to have way more plot than just the hero and the other main characters having sex all the time!  I also usually read series since I read pretty quickly and love how the authors continue building the world and characters through out the series.

Some of my favorite series are:  The Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward, Dark Hunters by Sherrilyn Kenyon,  Argeneau by Lynday Sands, Fever series by Karen Marie Moning,  and Sookie Stackhouse by Charlaine Harris to just hit the tip of the iceberg.

My goal with this blog is to have some reviews, some free book links and some fun sayings and quotes!

Enjoy!
